This is a stimulant laxative, and that is the whole reason to read before buying. Don't take it if you have abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, or if you already have diarrhoea. Prolonged use may cause serious bowel problems — it is for short-term use, and our page on laxative overuse explains what happens when it becomes a daily one. Not for children under 12, and not during pregnancy or breastfeeding without advice from your doctor or pharmacist. Constipation that keeps coming back is a symptom worth investigating rather than managing indefinitely.

What you're paying for
Laxatone is a practitioner-formulated herbal laxative built on cascara and rhubarb, with ginger and German chamomile alongside them. The label indicates it for the relief of constipation, and for flatulence and intestinal spasm.
We stock it because people ask us for something that will get things moving, and we would rather they got it with the limits explained than off a shelf without them. Cascara and rhubarb are stimulant laxatives: they work by prompting the bowel wall to contract. That is effective, and it is not a habit to settle into.
