Privacy Policy
Last updated
Colonics Hydrotherapy Melbourne is committed to protecting your privacy in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what personal and health information we collect, how we use it, and how you can access or correct it.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Personal details such as your name, address, phone number and email
- Health information relevant to your care, including your medical history, current symptoms, medications and any contraindications identified during screening
- Payment information when you pay for a session — we don't store your full card details ourselves
How we collect it
Most information is collected directly from you — in person, by phone, on your intake form, or through our online booking, contact and question forms. We may also receive information from your GP or another treating practitioner where relevant to your care and where you've consented to that.
Health information is sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We collect it only where it's reasonably necessary to screen you for contraindications and deliver your treatment, and we do so with your consent.
Dealing with us anonymously
You're welcome to ring us on (03) 9388 0080 with a general question — whether a treatment suits you, what it costs, how to prepare — without giving your name.
Treatment is different. We can't safely treat you without a clinical record in your name: the health questions we ask exist to rule out reasons a colonic wouldn't be appropriate, and we're required to keep records of the care we provide.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and manage your colonic hydrotherapy sessions, screen for contraindications, process payments, respond to enquiries, and meet our clinical record-keeping obligations. We don't use your health information for marketing purposes.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where it's necessary to provide your care or is required by law, including with:
- Visitbase, our online booking system, when you book an appointment
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website and screens our forms for bots
- Resend, which delivers the email we send you
- Stripe, which processes card payments — we never receive your full card details
- Google and Meta, for advertising and analytics measurement, and only if you accept those cookies
- A court, tribunal or government authority where we're legally required to
Colonics Hydrotherapy Melbourne is operated independently of the other allied health clinics at 3/68 Melville Road, Brunswick West VIC 3055 — we don't share your personal or health information with those other practices unless you've specifically asked us to. Each practitioner here operates an independent practice and has their own obligations under the Privacy Act in relation to the clinical records they hold.
We never sell your information, and we never share your health information for marketing. Where you accept advertising cookies, Google and Meta are told that an enquiry happened so we can tell which ads work — never who you are, what you asked about, or anything from your clinical record.
Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers that support this website — website hosting, form delivery and spam protection — operate servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where information is handled by those providers, we take reasonable steps to ensure it's protected to a standard comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles. Your clinical records are held in Australia.
Cookies and website analytics
Cookies that make the site work — keeping your cart, remembering your cookie choice — are always on. They don't track you across other websites.
Analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics, Google Ads, the Meta pixel) are off until you accept them. If you decline, or ignore the banner, they never load. You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Declining changes nothing about your appointment or what you pay.
What those tools measure is aggregated and is never combined with your health information.
How long we keep it
Health records are retained for at least 7 years from your last appointment, in line with Victorian health records requirements — and where a client was under 18, until they turn 25. Enquiries that don't result in an appointment are kept only as long as needed to respond to them. After that, records are securely destroyed or de-identified.
Data security
We store client records and take reasonable steps — including secure systems and restricted access — to protect your information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No online system is completely secure, but we work to keep our systems and processes up to date.
If something goes wrong
If a data breach happens that's likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
Access and correction
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you at any time by contacting us using the details below. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe and may need to verify your identity first.
Privacy complaints
If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it directly. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practice or the law. The current version will always be available on this page.
