Our team

Meet our colonic hydrotherapists

We only use closed-system colonic irrigation — practitioner-led and hygienically sealed — and every therapist here is also a qualified naturopath, midwife or other allied health professional. All four take new clients, so book with whoever suits your schedule.

Sara Canney is a qualified colonic hydrotherapist and naturopath with over 15 years of clinical experience in digestive health and detoxification. She combines closed-system colon hydrotherapy with naturopathic care to support clients through gentle, effective gut restoration.

Years of hands-on detox and colonics experience

Sara's interest in colon hydrotherapy was sparked early in her career, working alongside experienced practitioners who demonstrated the role colonics can play in supporting digestion, detoxification and broader health outcomes. In 2010 she accepted a role at a respected detox and wellness retreat on Koh Samui, Thailand, spending 18 months managing therapeutic detox and wellness programs for an international clientele — an immersive experience that gave her a depth of practical detoxification expertise rarely found in standard clinical settings. She returned to Australia in 2012, formally trained in closed-system colon hydrotherapy, and has offered it as a core part of her practice ever since.

A naturopathic foundation

Sara has practised as a naturopath since 2008, beginning at a busy clinic in Potts Point, Sydney, where she developed a strong clinical focus in digestive health, mood, stress, fatigue and immune support. That foundation underpins every colonic consultation — clients get a practitioner who understands the digestive system clinically, not just procedurally.

Clinical focus

Sara works extensively with constipation and irregular bowel motility; IBS, SIBO, candida and inflammatory bowel conditions; bloating, intestinal permeability and food sensitivities; skin concerns linked to digestive imbalance; fatigue, burnout and the after-effects of long-term stress on gut function; and general detoxification support.

Her integrative approach

Sara's combined training lets her tailor each session to the client in front of her. Where appropriate, colon hydrotherapy is supported by evidence-informed dietary and lifestyle guidance, herbal medicine, nutritional supplementation and — where clinically indicated — pathology testing or functional assessments such as microbiome testing.

Recognition and published work

Sara has contributed health articles to Cosmopolitan Magazine and Australian Natural Health Magazine, and has worked alongside leading naturopaths and wellness practitioners in Australia and internationally.

Why we list every qualification

There is no government registration, no minimum training standard and no register of who is practising. A short certificate course is legally enough to perform a colonic on you, and a clinic is under no obligation to tell you that's all its staff hold. Most people booking a colonic have no idea this is the case.

We'd rather you knew, and applied the same four questions to us as to anyone else.

  • What are they qualified in besides colonics?

A colonic certificate can take a few weeks. It shows someone can run the equipment — not that they can recognise a contraindication or tell you when to see a doctor instead. A prior tertiary qualification in naturopathy, nursing, myotherapy or remedial massage means anatomy, physiology and pathology sit behind that judgement.

  • Are they a member of a professional association?

Associations set entry requirements, enforce a code of practice, and publish a register you can search. No membership means no external body standing behind their practice.

  • Will they give you a membership number?

A number you can check on a public register is the difference between a credential and a claim. Anyone unwilling to give you one has told you something.

  • Do they screen you before treating you?

A full health history and contraindication check should happen before anything begins — every time, not just on a first visit.

Our answers, so you can check them

Every practitioner here holds a qualification in naturopathy, midwifery, myotherapy or remedial massage alongside their colonic certification — listed by name on our team page, along with the association membership every one of them holds, and a membership number for each of them. ATMS publishes an open register you can search by name and number — ours or any other clinic's. MAA and ANTA don't publish one, but will confirm a membership on request — MAA or ANTA. All three have a complaints process an unregulated operator simply isn't subject to.
