First, it contains Activated Charcoal, which binds things in the gut indiscriminately — take the whole program two hours away from any prescription medicine, because charcoal can reduce how much of that medicine you absorb. If you take something where consistent levels matter, speak to your prescriber before starting. Second, it contains a Lower Bowel Stimulant, which works by prompting the bowel wall to contract. That's fine for a defined month-long program and not something to drift into taking indefinitely — our page on laxative overuse explains why. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
