Every client should be informed of all risks in respect to all medical and non-medical procedures and treatments. Without this information, informed consent can not be given by the client as they have to consider benefits versus risks. Everything carries risk, even taking an antibiotic or the contraception pill. Most people would consider this safe until they read the possible side effects.

Most risks associated with Colonics are related to contaminated equipment due to poor practices and not using disposable kits.

The second risk is damaging the rectal wall when self inserting the rectal speculum incorrectly or too deeply.
